A little about Greyhawk Online, and the Oerth Journal  magazine.

GreyhawkOnline.com has been creating and sharing new Greyhawk material for free since 2003, and the OJ has been distributed since 1995. 

Both GHO and the OJ are put together by volunteer editors, artists, and authors who are all huge fans of the setting!  

In addition to publishing the Oerth Journal, GHO sponsors the Great Library of Greyhawk (the largest continually updated wiki dedicated to the World of Greyhawk), offers webspace to Greyhawk fans, publishes an immense variety of articles relating to the World of Greyhawk, as well as links to all kinds of resources and blogs about Greyhawk.

The Oerth Journal always been, and always will be, a free digital magazine and every issue is available for download.  Now, it is also available in print as a gift to our donors.  It has articles about the gods, nations, and people of the Flanaess and beyond, as well as new spells, new monsters, NPCs, and even adventures!

I wanted to touch base with y'all, to make sure everyone knows OJ36 should've started arriving in mailboxes now!  

As some of you may know, it was shipped a little late because even after the address fiasco with the system not having collecting addresses and y'all having addresses manually, I ended up having to have foot surgery.  I had an incident on my 109th skydive when landing on my feet which resulted in five fractures and some of it required screws and pins to reassemble them. Though the last month has been rough, I'm healing well now, and I've been able to start getting to move room-to-room a little so I can be in the office a little.

We've run into a snag with shipping.   It seems a substantial portion of our members didn't have the website request your physical address when you made a Continuing Donation.  So, while we may have had your address previously on Patron, or may have had it for an order from a One-time Donation, we need your address associated with your "subscription".   We can't hunt down a hundred addressess by hand, and enter them one at a time on mailing labels.  It would be  difficult to tell which members we did or didn't have previously. 

Anyway, login to your Jemi dashboard, and update your information, please.  

And let us know when you've done it, and we'll be able to ship out your order right away!  

Oh! Also ... your name, for shipping. OJ36 Preview

This is just a quick note to talk about the way Jemi charges for Orders.  

So, one of the big things many of of you have already found is that Jemi lets us take donations for single back issues, which we weren't able to do before.  Also, it lets you make single transactions instead of an ongoing monthly collection.  

The thing we just found out is that for those of you who've pre-ordered for the next issue (#36 coming for the end of Summer - more on that in a minute), you may've not seen the charge for the issue when you purchased it.   We just found out today that we have to mark those Orders as "completed" when they're made, or they don't charge you.  While that seems counterintuitive to me, it may make sense to some - the moment you purchase it, it's paid for, and you receive it when it ships.  I'm gonna blame Patreon for ruining the way my brain works.  ... if you order at Amazon or McDonald's, you pay first and then you get the item.  Of course that's the way it works!

So, if you've made an Order in the last 8 weeks, and you're just now seeing your charge, I heartily apologize ... it's a new system, and this is the first issue that we've used it for. There's not *too* many ... about seveteen of you ... but, to each and every one of those people, I'm sorry I didn't "complete" the process sooner. 

On a higher note:  OJ#36 is looking great!  

I'm gonna publish a preview for it probably by the weekend, and give you some article titles.  There's an adventure this time which ties in with the lore of one of the other articles.  There's a look at the Summer festivals all across the Flanaess, and our faithful friend Meritaelin of the Rhenfolk makes a new appearance with lore about what the Rhennee do during Richfest!  There's also continuing short fiction from fan-favorite authors putting out their next chapters! 

As always, full color, and some really great art from some of our regular contributors! 

We're planning for the free PDF to come out in the next two weeks or so!

And even then, we'd have to have enough donations beforehand to cover the entire print run + shipping of it. ... c. $750 to $1,000 USD, or about 62 - 83 donations members .  

So now that OJ#35 went out the door this past weekend (we all know it was late), it can be ordered as a back issue from here on Jemi.app!   So, if you missed it on Patreon, you can donate for it right here! 

All members from Patreon who funded it, have had it shipped to them.

But, if you missed it, there's only a limited number in stock! There's only about 30 remaining!

If we ever have an issue that sells out, it's theoretically possible we could do a 2nd print run, but those would always be distinguishable from the 1st edition. So, there's been some issues with getting our Donors to transfer over to Jemi.app/GreyhawkOnline. We really need your help. ... if you have donated to the OJ/GHO in the past on Patreon, if you wish to continue receiving the OJ, you must change over here to Jemi.  If your subscription is not through Jemi, you will not receive OJ36 or after.   We will not be collecting any further funds from Patreon.

I want to encourage anyone who's still listed as a current donor on Patreon to cancel their donations on Patreon, so there's no confusion about where to donate.  Jemi.app/GreyhawkOnline is the only place to do it, now. Unfortunately, we've only gotten a couple dozen people to transfer over.

Now regarding the shipping of OJ35 - The first thing is: there was a printing error on the cover. A large blank white space appeared, caused by computer error when the file was transmitted, and an image wasn't parsed correctly. We did have to jump through a few hoops to find out what happened, exactly. But this resulted through no fault of the printing company themselves. But it did make an unexpected opportunity for us - which I'll describe in a minute.  

There were also some legal issues which came up after the free OJ#35 PDF was published. I can't really talk about what or why (for, you know, all the legal-junk reasons), but I can say there were issues with contracting/release forms. 

I wish I had taken a little more time to communicate with y'all to help y'all understand why the shipping has been late. But I didn't really know how to address it, and I just kind of froze up and waited to see how the situation would resolve. Which was not  how I should've handled it. I'm still learning how to do this whole business thing, and I regret I hadn't informed y'all sooner. 

Unfortunately, compounded by legal junk, the fact that we haven't gotten enough people over to Jemi had the downstream effect that we haven't been able to manage the cost of producing and shipping the OJ. ... which may've been the biggest thing. I've decided to go ahead and cover the entire cost of shipping myself, in hopes that it will be covered by the donations for the next issue (Summer '21, OJ#36). 

Anyone who donated for OJ#35 here on Patreon will receive OJ#35, which is already scheduled to be shipping out to donors later this week.  The pre-shipment labels have already been generated, and they're being affixed to packages.

Hey there, all!  Just wanted to take a minute and catch up with everyone!

We're in the process of trying to get as many people as possible to switch over to the new funding platform.   It's come to our attention that many of our Patrons who'd previously donated on Patreon don't understand that they must update their subscriptions by coming to the new platform! 

If we could talk y'all into mentioning this to anyone you know who's already donating via subscription, or mentioning it in conversations on social media, or just even sharing a link to this post!   We need to have as many people renewing their funding as possible, or we won't be able to meet the print costs of OJ36. 

The author's deadline has essentially arrived, and though there's a few authors who are running a bit behind (which isn't unusual), there's plenty that has come in.   The block of articles is going to be going to the editorial team soon, and revisions will begin in the near future!  

We're really looking forward to this one!  

There are already articles with some summer themes like beekeepers, fishing, and some elven "summer" lore ...  and there's also new parts to our continuing fictions by David Leonard and Mark Allen, and a mega-sized article about Jolene of Veluna!  

So, we're on track with this season's issue, though, if you happen to be interested in submitting something Summer-themed, or know someone who is, be sure to get to it right away, there's only an extremely limited amount of time for it to be squeezed in!

We're in the process of trying to get as many people as possible to switch over to the new funding platform.   It's come to our attention that many of our Patrons who'd previously donated on Patreon don't understand that they must update their subscriptions by coming to the new platform! 

If we could talk y'all into mentioning this to anyone you know who's already donating via subscription, or mentioning it in conversations on social media, or just even sharing a link to this post!   We need to have as many people renewing their funding as possible, or we won't be able to meet the print costs of OJ36. 

The author's deadline has essentially arrived, and though there's a few authors who are running a bit behind (which isn't unusual), there's plenty that has come in.   The block of articles is going to be going to the editorial team soon, and revisions will begin in the near future!  

We're really looking forward to this one!  

There are already articles with some summer themes like beekeepers, fishing, and some elven "summer" lore ...  and there's also new parts to our continuing fictions by David Leonard and Mark Allen, and a mega-sized article about Jolene of Veluna!  

So, we're on track with this season's issue, though, if you happen to be interested in submitting something Summer-themed, or know someone who is, be sure to get to it right away, there's only an extremely limited amount of time for it to be squeezed in!
